Today, on HER day, I accompanied my spouse to Presidency for an event organised by Federal Ombudswoman Ms Kashmala Tariq. President of Pakistan Mr Arif Alvi graced the occasion. I shall term it as a huge success for meeting the intended objectives. Felicitations to FOSPAH for celebrating this day in such a befitting manner. While roads of our major cities were occupied by a bit controversial Aurat March, there was a decent dialogue at Presidency to build awareness against harassment of women. Ms Kashmala gave a balanced speech highlighting contibutions of her secretariat in last 10 years. Dr Zafar Mirza advisor to PM brought-to-fore with statistics; discrimination faced by women. Ms Sania Nishter also highlighted how important it is to give rightful place to women of Pakistan. In the end the President made an emphatic speech on importance of empowerment of women. He quoted Quaide Azam who had said, “power of women is greater than the pen and sword”. He spoke at length on inadequacies of inheritance law of Pakistan. His pursuits speak of him being one of the best President Pakistan has had.

We all must stand up for the oppressed. There is no doubt that women and children are oppressed in our society and they face heinous crimes. Each day we are a shamefaced due to crimes against women and chidern. Notwithstanding, controversy over Aurat March, there is a definite need to fight for emancipation and empowerment of women. Good mothers give a good nation. Within overall need of human resource development; Pakistan needs to focus on mothers and children. Pakistan cannot prosper without giving rightful place to women.

Sensitive topics are difficult to touch upon, due to fear that one may not cross the line on either side. As I see my beloved mother land in grip of yet another issue, I come to overpower my hesitation of not speaking. I, for one have always been ardent supporter of emancipation and empowerment of women. Men are being alleged for usurping rights of women. Indeed that’s true to a great deal, however, in my above referred blog I highlighted a contradiction whereby women themselves belittle women. Aurat March is fully supported and a great idea for highlighting injustices against women but run up to this presumably well intended campaign is highly painful. Qamar-Marvi episode, demeaning sloganeering and fake posters doing rounds on social media are disgusting to say the least. This is yet another episode where modalities have killed the spirit of event. Qamar-Marvi episode has left important lessons. Qamar got so much of popularity in last couple of weeks that he could not absorb it and went overboard in his reaction. On other hand Marvi with a tainted past also tried to champion the cause over exuberantly. Both stooped below decency. In the age of social media I feel women by opting for this march have also rendered themselves vulnerable to mudslinging. Its painful to see fake, demeaning, immoral and salacious posters.

I feel the organisers lacked vision and control over events. Whatever noble intent they might have had, ironically their march stands high jacked by ultra liberal component and bad intended people. It has become a mean of division and discord in a society already fragmented. However, on the whole this evolutionary process is highly essential and will do good to the society.

We are living in age of social media. Smallest of the incidents get reported and news accumulately create scare and panic. Very recently the world has come out of war on terror. Once the war was on, there was generally a feeling that the whole world is on fire. Contrarily, in his 2011 book The Better Angels of Our Nature: Why Violence Has Declined, Harvard University psychologist and famed intellect Steven Pinker argued that humans were living in the most peaceful era in the history of their species.

Likewise the on going issue of Noval CoronaVirus has been blown out of proportion by social media. The numbers are being misperceived and there is a panic and scare. Above clip refutes emphatically as regards threat of this virus. In country like Pakistan, two odd suspected cases has brought up a storm. Price of masks goes skyrocketing. Ordinarily in such a situation we should display empathy and compassion. However, we always think of self interests and people are exploiting need for masks and the panic which is prevailing. We should jointly help to educate people and get back to displaying trust in Allah as regards finality of death. Corona or no Corona, whose time is up will fly off.

راولپنڈی میں جس چودہ سالہ لڑکی کے ساتھ محلے کے لڑکے مسلسل زیادتی کرتے رہے اس نے آج ایک بچے کو جنم دے دیا ہے۔
وہ بچہ جس نے بظاہر ایک نام نہاد حلالی معاشرے میں آنکھ کھولی ہے اب اسی معاشرے کی طرف سے حرامی کا لقب پائے گا اور اسکی ماں فاحشہ کہلائے گی۔
اور جن لڑکوں نے یہ حرکت کی ہے وہ پاکستان کے شاندار عدالتی نظام سے ضمانتیں پا کر شادیاں کریں گے اور حلالی بچے پیدا کریں گے۔
آئیے ہم سب مل کر اپنے چہرے پر کالک مل کے ماتم کرتے ہیں.

A thought of writing on our contradictions was lurking in my mind since long. Above Urdu text implored me to get to pen. Our social as as well as management sectors are fraught with serious contradictions. A society apparently built on Islamic injunctions is infact in disarray. I shall identify a few:

– Teachers are builders of a nation. Our worldly teacher treats education as a business and our religious teacher has no qualifications. Every other discipline of education demands 16-20 years of formal education. To be a religious teacher you need merely 5 years of religious diploma. Misfit of any other field becomes a religious teacher.

– Girls are future mothers and groomer of future generations. But today’s mothers focus more on boys (seeing them as their bread earner) and relegate grooming of girls to second priority.

– Judges play a pivotal role in rule of law in any society. There are no qualifications needed to be a judge. Political masters can designate any one serving their interests to this position.

– Legislators ought to be educated and visionary. Any body and every body endowed with wealth can become a legislator.

– Leader ought to have immaculate character. Character is first ingredient of good leadership. Even in this case wealth is good enough to buy a certificate of character.

– Qualifications are preferred more than education becuase qualifications get us jobs and being a human isnt a high priority.

Unless as a society we do not eradicate these contradictions we shall not be able to rise as a nation.

Cleanliness is a subject very close to my heart. For no other reason but cleanliness, I have always contended that the best form of Islam that I have observed was in Turkey. A Christian brother teaching us importance of cleanliness through self example is a wakening call. I learnt from an elder that if we allocate 100 Marks for life. 50 will be allocated to cleanliness because Islam says Safai Nisf Imaan hai. 25 will be allocated to education due to emphasis, Islam has given to education. 15 will be allocated to dealings and 10 to Kalama. Now if we allocate these Marks, our developed Christian world will get 45 in cleanliness, 20 in education, 10 in dealings and 0 in Kalama. Contrarily we Muslims get 10 in Kalama, 5 in cleanliness, 5 in education and 5 in dealings. They stand at 75 out of 100 while we stand at 25 out of 100. And the worst of all is our distorted faith that 10 marks in Kalama are good enough for our success in life.

These arguments are applicable to all the Muslims of the world becuase Hujj is an event which signifies state of our cleanliness both of hosts as well as guests. Allah may guide us.

I started a blog in 2018 to raise awareness on ugly faces of our society. In many of my blogs I have been critical of our societal decay. Yet again we stand as shamefaced nation. Our society has become oppressive and exploitative. The crimes are committed against the weak. A society which cannot look after its future generations can be called a society of animals. We were already failing in our collective responsibility of grooming our future generations but now we have stooped even low in committing heinous crimes against our chidern. The problem is well known and deep rooted but we are shying away from uprooting it. Our western educated lot gives us solutions not suited to our needs. West has rectified their animal-like societies through Guillotine but they teach us civility. Humans can never be deterred with out fear of retribution. Allah’s commandments also direct for the same. However, we have tainted logic for escaping from required punishments. I have authored a book on terrorism. At the time of illogical moratorium against capital punishment, it was justified on the bizarre logic that a suicidal can never be deterred. I always contended that unfortunately in the garb of 5 percent suicidals we have given free hand to 95 percent who dont want to die. Sense prevailed and we started meting capital punishment. The results are infront of us. Sudden drop is acts of terrorism is a cumulative impact of military operations, capital punishments and national action plan.

I feel the society has gone so wayward that state will have to get berserk. Ordinary and routine measures will not work.

The way our Region is transforming in view of CPEC and BRI there is convergence of interests amongst states which earlier faced divergence. Pakistan and Iran are two such neighbouring countries. Afghanistan unfortunately continues to be one of the most unstable countries of the world. In the new geopolitics, stability in Afghanistan has gained added importance. While US is visibly failing in Afghanistan, it’s the countries surrounding Afghanistan which can join hands and work for its stability. These countries have greater obligation to work for this objective for nothing else but to save themselves from ill-effects of instable Afghnaistan. Russia, China, Pakistan, Iran and Turkey form the Golen Ring of Security which if formed will augur well for the region.

Nature has her own designs to impose caution once humankind goes wayward. Noah’s arc was meant to save the good and perish the evil. Followers of Prophet Loot also faced the wrath of Allah becuase of their misdeeds. In modern world every now and then humankind is baffled with a totally bizarre disease. Two decades ago AIDS spread as an epidemic. It seemed a caution from mother nature due to sexual waywardness of the the West and Africa. Once again the world is scared with incidence of CoronaVirus. There seems to be yet another design of nature to impose caution. Is it that nature has come to impose caution on wayward eating habits by Chinese? While Islam is most stringent on dietary rules, Christianity is a bit lax and Chinese have gone totally wayward.

Islam has laid out logical and comprehensive injunctions for dietary habits of its followers. There is a concept of Halaal and Haram (legal and illegal). Science has been proving periodically that injunctions of Islam are based on wisdom and logic. It is expected that due to CoronaVirus Chinese will realise to mend their ways. It is also surprising that while Chinese have best of wisdom and knowledge but they lack discipline in dietary habits.

I also googled the incidence of epidemics in history of mankind. The data is thought provoking.

From 429BC-1551 there were 16 incidents of epidemic. From 1545-1690 these were 27. From 1702-1798 there were 40 incidents. From 1800-1900 thr number stood at 72. From 1896-2000, 35 incidents of epidemic occurred. From 2001-2019, 69 incidents have been recorded. The numbers speak that as the knowledge is rising so is the number of epidemics. In 21st century merely in first two decades the number is alrmingly high ie 69.

Above are links of my last blog and latest vedio clip of Mr Hoodbhoy. I did not know the gentleman as much as I am now getting to know him through his views. I have heard of pseudo intellect, tainted intellect but this I would call as shameful intellect. His body language belied his arguments. Red face, spitting through mouth shows that gentleman is himself not sure of what he is saying. I read long time ago, JISS KA MUQADMA KAMZOR HO USS KEE AWAAZ OONCHI HOTI HAI (the one who has weak arguments, he shouts louder). A good intellectual should prevent his arguments getting affected by his emotions. Instead of logic he speaks with vengeance. I have no problem with his views but disrespecting our founding father and our ideology is shameful. Providence didn’t bless sufficient time to Muhammad Ali Jinnah to provide sound foundation to the country. This confused intellectual has the qualms to allege him for confusion. We have seen a lot of illogical intellectuals perishing ahead of him. He can also achieve nothing more than satisfying his lowly vengeance. Allah may help such corrupted minds.

It is second time I am seeing vedio of this insane person from India. Such assertions were even made by ex Army Chief of India Gen VP Singh. These clips invoke responses of rage and bluster from us. In actual fact we should play cool. Enemies are deterred by strong capabilities and not by furore. Let me assure you this stooge need not be told that if they do what he is suggesting, then what all Pakistan can do? Indian vulnerabilities are ten times more than Pakistan. ISI is ten times more capable than RAW. If they put one inch of Pakistan on fire, we shall pay back with much higher penalty.

They already have tried all this and miserably failed. He sould rather suggest to his own leadership on how to put out fire in India. The fire which is of their own making. If Pakistan adds a bit of fuel to this blazing fire we shall covert it into an inferno. The leadership of India is much better aware than awareness of this chic.
